About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be integral to both the design and testing phases of heavy vehicle suspension and component projects. You’ll work on 3D designs, perform analysis, support technical documentation, and provide technical support to our customers. Additionally, you will assist in both laboratory and in-field vehicle testing, specifying instrumentation, test requirements and analyzing the resulting data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 3D Design: Develop and refine 3D designs for heavy suspensions, components, and air control systems to meet rigorous performance and durability standards.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Perform finite element analysis on components to verify and validate designs, ensuring compliance with safety and operational requirements.
  • Instrumentation and Test: Specify strain gage locations per FEA, provide written test specifications and load cases for a variety of mechanical test scenarios.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain and update engineering documentation and Bills of Material to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards.
  • Customer Support: Provide technical support for customers, assisting with troubleshooting, inquiries, and product-related questions.
  • Engineering Process Development:  Follow, maintain, refine and develop automated processes for the Engineering Department. Involves conceiving and specifying high level processes and then refining to include details suitable for computer coding.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably AutoCAD and Inventor.
  • Experience with finite element analysis tools, preferably Ansys Mechanical.
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret FEA and test data, identifying key patterns and areas for design improvement. Correlate FEA results to physical test results.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail in design, testing, and data analysis to ensure quality and reliability.
